Workshop Details

Write your own story in the history of mead, the oldest alcoholic beverage known to humankind...

Immerse yourself in an educational experience in the ancient art of mead making with our mead-maker, Tyler Johnson.

This is an experimental and sensational once-in-a-lifetime experience using the hand-crashing method, an ancient form of mead making. From hive to the bottle, you will learn how honey is harvested and how mead is made using a mix of ancient and modern fermentation processes.  Come join us to fully immerse in the world of beekeeping and mead making.

Your day will look like:

  1. Visit the apiary and harvest honeycomb
  2. Bring the honeycomb back to the meadery and start the brewing process guided by Tyler
  3. Enjoy a surprising grazing lunch* together with a mead tasting
  4. After aging for several months, this special mead will be bottled and ready to pick-up for all participants

Your ticket includes:

  • Guided tour through apiary & mead making workshop
  • Bee protective gear during the apiary tour & harvesting
  • Light grazing lunch & refreshments
  • 6 varietal mead tasting** (including our two new releases!)
  • One bottle of your crafted mead (ready for pick-up toward end of the year)

Workshop Details:

Gather at our Honey House at 930 Palm Place before heading out to our nearby apiary. Here, you'll see our bees in-action and a select few will have the opportunity to harvest honey directly from the hives for use in crafting your very own mead! We'll take your freshly harvested honeycomb back to our Honey House, where Tyler will guide you in extracting your honey with primitive techniques before starting the fermentation process. In addition to learning how to make mead, you will also get to make a honey lemonade using the same honeycomb harvested earlier in the day, which will be shared as a refreshing apertif at lunch.

At the end, we'll come together over a light grazing lunch with our Bee Larvae Cooking Workshop and share the bounty of each other's creations.

We'll watch over your mead while it ferments at our Honey House for several months. Once the fermentation process is complete, we'll invite you back for bottling and you'll take home a bottle of your hand-crafted mead to enjoy on your own or share with loved ones as a gift for the holidays.

Limited capacity.
